Fleetmasters – New England’s Only Seagrave Authorized Dealer

There’s no other way to say it – we are both proud and grateful for our distinction as the only factory authorized dealer for Seagrave fire apparatus in New England (excluding Fairfield County CT).

At the same time, don’t be impressed by that. Be impressed with the product we’re privileged to offer – Seagrave.

Seagrave Company Background

Officially known as FWD Seagrave, the company reflects the joining together of two highly innovative manufacturers that have proven both separately and together to be the standard bearers others have followed and learned from for multiple generations.

FWD was founded in 1909 by Otto Zachow and William Besserdich in Clintonville, Wisconsin, as the Four Wheel Drive Automobile Company.  The company quickly became the premier manufacturer of severe duty chassis for both military and commercial applications, producing the first commercially-viable four-wheel drive vehicle chassis in the United States.

Seagrave was founded by Fredric Seagrave in Detroit, Michigan, in 1881.  As such, Seagrave is the oldest manufacturer of fire apparatus in the United States. Today, FWD Seagrave produces a comprehensive range of custom apparatus, including:

  • Pumpers
  • Pumper-tankers
  • Rescue pumpers
  • Heavy rescue units
  • Aerial ladders
  • Aerial platforms
  • Tractor-drawn aerials.
